In this hands-on work session, you’ll learn step-by-step how to build your own Google Site.  Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance an existing site, this session will guide you through the process of designing a user-friendly, functional site that meets your department's unique needs. Bring your laptop and get ready to dive in as we explore site structure, content organization, and best practices for keeping your team informed and engaged. By the end of this session, you’ll have the foundation of your very own Google Site and the skills to continue building a dynamic internal communication tool for your team.

Fielding a Winning Team

This session will use the baseball theme of building a winning team. The “Warmup” will review the strategic line-up in a kitchen and components of a strong team. The second area will be “Building the Infield” and identify the production schedules, planning the checklists needed by positions, and identifying daily, weekly, and monthly work items. Next, “Second Inning: Setting the Defensive Alignment” will discuss efficiencies possible for teams, and a worksheet will be used to “practice grounders” for groups to propose the best layout for making salads (recipe and graph paper provided as handout). The final inning will cover “Outfield Coverage- Reworking the Serving” and demonstrate “homerun” Student Serving Lines.

In this session you will learn the differences between radiant, convection, and combi ovens. When it’s appropriate for each and the variety of operational ways you can use them with or without ventilation.

Addressing these areas is essential for building a responsible and sustainable food service industry.
